Court resolution in Brooke Mueller's cocaine case

You don't have to be an A-list celebrity to get what many consider a sweetheart deal in America's legal system.

Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, received a deferred sentence today in a case that snared the B-list celebrity with cocaine and assault allegations. She pleaded guilty to possession of less than 4 grams of cocaine and if she stays out of trouble for a year, the incident will be expunged from her legal record.

Mueller's case will be transferred to California, where she lives.

The deal comes after Sheen received his own sweet deal in Aspen where Mueller accused the star of assaulting her and threatening to kill her. Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin has made it known that since neither Mueller or Sheen live in Colorado, he doesn't want to waste unnecessary time on their prosecution.

"Rich people get what they want and poor people don't," TMZ quoted the alleged victim in the case as saying.

But in truth, it isn't uncommon for drug offenders to get a second chance in the courts.

Mueller has had a well-chronicled drug history and is continuing to work on her rehabilitation.
