Zettel was sixty seven hundredths second ahead of last year's champion Schild, also of Austria, who placed second with a final time of 1:43.13 and Tina Maze of Slovenia, who won Saturday's giant slalom race with a final time of 1:44.27.

"I am quite happy about this eighth podium in Aspen,” Zettel said. “I love this little city and the people here.”

USA's 17 year-old Mikaela Shiffrin of Eagle-Vail represented the United Stated in the slalom race and placed 7th with a final time of 1:45.52 overall.
