Snow piling up on Aspen's ski mountains

It's been a banner week for snow in the Aspen area.

Storm after storm has transformed the upper Roaring Fork Valley's four ski resorts — Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk - into winter wonderlands.

The Aspen Skiing Co. reports its mountains have received nearly two feet of snow (20 inches) over the last week.

Ski patrollers continue to drop ropes, opening new terrain.

Other state ski resorts have also received ample snow, especially Steamboat where the powder is piling up fast.

Utah and California ski resorts have also fared well in recent weeks. It has dumped feet there.

The Aspen area is expected to receive a few more inches Monday.
