Weather cancels classes in Aspen

The Aspen School District has canceled classes at all of its schools today due to snow.

A message posted on the district website — along with an e-mail and text message sent out by Pitkin County — announced the closure a little bit after 7 a.m. this morning. The closure affects all of the district's schools, including the high school, middle school, elementary school, and Early Learning Center.

Snow has been falling regularly since Friday afternoon.

While the wintry weather isn't necessarily welcomed by working parents who will need to make arrangements for their children today, skiers and snowboarders are already smiling.

There is plenty of powder at all of Aspen Skiing Company's four mountains.

A half a foot of new snow was reported this morning at Aspen Highlands and Snowmass. Five inches at Aspen Mountain and Buttermilk. And that's on top of the snow that's been piling up all weekend.
Just another day in the life in Aspen where "conditions are crazy good."
