Results from the Aspen/Snowmass Open

The sixth annual Aspen/Snowmass Open is under way at Buttermilk where skiers and snowboarders are competing in the ESPN Winter X Games superpipe and slopestyle course.

Here are Friday's results:

Men’s Ski Slopestyle

1st – Tim McChesney – Taking home $5,000 in prize money. McChesney is 20-years-old and from Bozeman, Montana.

2nd – Jamieson Irvine –$2,500. Irvine, 15, is from Barrie, Ontario.

3rd – Ole Christian Mustad – $1,500. Mustad, 20, hails from Oslo, Norway.

Women’s Ski Slopestyle

1st – Kristi Johns – $1,500. John is from Winter Park, Colorado and is 24-years-old.

2nd – Catherine Warchal – $750. Warchal, 23, is from Reeders, Pennsylvania.

3rd – Dara Howell – $300. Howell, 16, is from Huntsville, Ontario.

Men’s Snowboard Pipe

1st – Dom Harington – $1,500. Harington is 26 and hails from Leeds, United Kingdom.

2nd – Will Adams – $750. Adams, 17, is from Aspen, Colorado and his proud to call himself an Aspen/Snowmass athlete.

3rd – Oliver Bacharach – $300. Bacharach, 18, is an Aspen/Snowmass Athlete and resides in Aspen, Colorado.

Women’s Snowboard Pipe

1st – Clair Bidez – $1,500. Bidez, 23, is from Minturn, Colorado.

2nd – Lauren Whalley – $750. Whalley, 24, is from Aspen, Colorado.

3rd – Molly Wilson – $300. Wilson, 19, is an Aspen/Snowmass Athlete and lives in Basalt, Colorado.

Also, the first ever Sandy Pants Rail Jam went down at the base of Buttermilk on Saturday. A huge pile of sand from Costa Rica was placed outside of Bumps Lodge and was constructed into a work of art by artists from all over the country. Skiers and riders hit rails and boxes constructed around the giant pile of sand – and even hit the sand.

Ski Rail Jam

1st Place – John Kutcher – $500

2nd Place – Karl Fostvedt – $250

3rd Place – Maks Gorham – $150

Best Trick – Aaron Blunk for a switch lipside 270 off of the sand – $100

Snowboard Rail Jam

1st Place – Jack Kyle – $500

2nd Place – Colin Spencer – $250

3rd Place – Wes Walsh – $150

Best Trick – Eric Angus for a front lipside 270 out – $100

Sand was imported from Costa Rica for Saturday's rail jam.
