Expect delays driving over McClure Pass

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun a project to repair two culverts at the top of McClure Pass on SH 133 (mile marker 42-44). The work involves reinforcing two 48-inch corrugated steel pipes with plastic liners and filling any voids with grout. The project will require some work with a crane and other large equipment. In addition, crews will construct new headwalls, improve the guardrail and conduct some erosion control.

The project was contracted to American West for $373,000 and will be completed by Nov. 2, weather permitting.

TRAVEL IMPACTS – Through Nov. 2, motorists can anticipate single-lane, alternating traffic with delays of about five minutes (these will vary with traffic queues), Monday through Friday — and some weekends — during daylight hours. Traffic control crews will make every effort to coordinate with the nearby rockfall project to avoid excessive stops to motorists; however this is not always possible and motorists should plan for additional delays.

For project comments or questions, the public may call the project hotline at 970-471-5094 or write to sh82info@elamconstruction.com. Updated information regarding traffic impacts on this or other CDOT projects is available at www.dot.state.co.us/TravelInfo/currentcond/ or by calling 511.
