Tom Curren to play Wildwood in Snowmass

Professional surfer and musician Tom Curren will headline a post X Games show at the Bar at the Wildwood above the Snowmass Mall on Friday, Jan. 25 at 9:30 p.m.

A three-time world champion, Curren won 33 championship events in his professional surfing career — a total only bested by Kelly Slater. He achieved near-mythical status both for his competitive drive and for his smooth, powerful surfing style and continues to be a beloved figure in the surfing world.

After retiring from professional surfing in the 1990s Curren, turned his attention to music. Having played a variety of instruments since his teenage years, his drumming, base guitar, singing and composition took a form that reflected his unique personality.

The Wildwood in Snowmass

He picked up many musical inspirations while traveling as a world-class athlete. From jazz to African music to acoustic melodies, Tom Curren has built up a large musical repertoire. He has toured since the early 1990s and performed with Jackson Browne last year. He released his first EP, Summerland, in October 2012.

Opening for Tom Curren is Don Sozzi, who brings his Midwestern roots to the stage on his acoustic guitar. Sozzi’s first album, Flipside, was released in 2012. He embarks on a tour in Norway this summer. Sozzi will also perform on Saturday evening at the Wildwood Bar following X-Games.

Join Curren and Sozzi for a night of music and food and drink specials at the Wildwood Snowmass. This newly revamped lodge is a hip and stylish hangout in Snowmass. The Bar at Wildwood offers 10 New Belgium taps, wine, specialty cocktails, and tasty snacks. The Living Lounge, the Living Room next to the bar and the arcade upstairs are perfect spots for people to gather to talk, play games, and listen to music, making it the place to be for an X Games after party.

On both Friday and Saturday nights, Wildwood Bar will host an X Games party. Either night, sign up for a Wild Bunch card for season-long discounts and specials and be entered to win a complimentary three-night stay at the Wildwood for X Games 2014.

Other restaurants in the Westin complex: the Ranger Station, The Vue Bar and Lounge, and the Snowmass Kitchen will also be serving up X Games food and drink specials throughout the weekend.
