Aspen 82 launches summer season with live rooftop broadcast

Live rooftop broadcast, four original shows and an events division are just some of the exciting things in store for Aspen 82’s summer. The town’s only live, commercial television station, on channel 82, started its summer broadcast season last week from the top of the Dancing Bear Aspen, where hosts Oliver Sharpe and Amanda Russell will bring sass and savvy to food, culture, lifestyle, recreation and the arts.

Sharpe, veteran TV host, leisure specialist and man about town, and Russell, a New York fitness and lifestyle expert, host “The Lift,” Thursday through Sunday. Between friendly banter, expect interviews with world-class athletes, luminaries, musicians and artists while the two navigate the busy summer schedule with expertise.

“Clichés exist for a reason and ‘I came for the winter but stayed for the summer,’ certainly applies to my feelings on Aspen,” says Sharpe. “I'm excited to work alongside Amanda Russell on Channel 82's "The Lift" to showcase all that our town has to offer in the summer season. We'll get dirty for all of the outdoor activities and clean up for the events but most of all we'll show you how to live like a local.”

Aspen 82 is an official partner of Aspen Skiing Co., Food & Wine Classic, USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Jazz Aspen Snowmass and Winter X Games, and will have insider access to these iconic Aspen events. Its nonprofit partners include The Buddy Program, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Challenge Aspen and Aspen Film.

In addition to “The Lift,” Aspen 82 has three original programs set to be released this summer. “Harvest Aspen,” featuring Food Network Star Susie Jimenez, showcases farm-to-table food from the Colorado culinary community; “Common Good” focuses on the vibrant nonprofit sector in Aspen and like-minded cities; and “Yoga with a View” is a live-to-tape flow series from the picturesque wedding deck atop Aspen Mountain.

“Coming into the summer season we feel wildly excited about the product we've created and the community we serve,” says David Cook, co-owner of Aspen 82. “Aspen has given us the opportunity of a lifetime and we remain solely focused on accurately representing the spirit and fiber of this wonderful valley. Most importantly we want to recognize the team at Aspen 82, without this group of talented individuals none of this would be possible.”

To complement the diversity of coverage, Aspen 82 has launched 82 Events, a complete event subsidiary which offers branding and activation opportunities to its partners. The company will launch during the Food & Wine Classic with several private gatherings.

Aspen 82 is the area’s only live television station broadcasting in Aspen/Snowmass on channel 82 and live to the world on It launched in December with a live, daily morning show from the top of Aspen Mountain.
