G4 Weekend kicks off summer biking season at Snowmass
Aspen/Snowmass launched into full summer operations with G4 Weekend and the opening of Bike Snowmass, a network of new and existing downhill and cross country mountain biking trails, on Saturday, June 23, when daily operations began for the summer season.
The opening festivities, officially dubbed G4 Weekend – Gravity, Guitars, Gondolas and Games -- featured half priced gondola and bike haul tickets all weekend long, as well as free bike clinics and live music.
The Elk Camp Gondola and Elk Camp Chair will operate daily until September 2, and on the weekends of September 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29. The Elk Camp Gondola summer hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Elk Camp chairlift hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
With the addition of several new downhill trails over the past three years, including the long awaited Valhalla – built by Gravity Logic last year – Snowmass is now home to over 50 miles of singletrack, cross-country, freeride and downhill terrain.
Complete bike haul, bike rental and gondola pricing for summer 2013 is available at www.aspensnowmass.com/summerpricing.
Valhalla Nights, an extension of the wildly popular Ullr Nights that debuted this winter at Elk Camp will take place July 12 and 19 and August 2, 16, 23 and 30. The Elk Camp Gondola will run until 7 p.m. for biking, hiking, dinner and drinks, a bonfire, live music, movies, a Stryder Park and a kid's playground.
The biking excitement has only just kicked off in Snowmass and will continue to heat up throughout the summer with events such as the Master of the Mass, July 12-14.
This Enduro Mountain Bike Race is comprised of four stages over three days that test the all-around skills of racers as they face the challenge of using only one bike for all stages which include a chainless downhill, cross-country, downhill and super-downhill categories.
