Hills defends men's overall pro title in Master of the Mass race
The second annual Master of the Mass took place under mostly sunny skies in Snowmass from July 12-14.
The race comprised of four stages over three days and tested the all-around skills of racers as they faced the challenge of using only one bike for all stages which included a chainless downhill, cross-country, downhill and super-downhill categories.
Nate Hills of Dillon, Colo., defended his title as the men's pro overall winner. Hills was the men’s pro overall winner in last year’s race and this year he swept the Super-Downhill and Cross-Country stages of the race.
Local athlete, Brian Buell of Carbondale placed fourth overall in the men's pro division and had a impressive performance in the downhill events as he won both the downhill and chainless downhill stages.
The men’s amateur winner was Cashion Smith of Brevard, N.C., and the Junior division champion was local rider Dyllon Gressett of Carbondale.
The women’s overall winner was Eva Surls of Brevard, N.C.
